Yes! It is that time of the ... week ... again.
In an earlier WWBC post I mentioned that one of my favorite book series was the Portland Storm. There are seventeen (if not more) books in the series. I have read ten, five of which were audio.
When I work at a sandwich shop, I handle a lot of food prep. This included slicing the meat. I often listened to audio books while working in order to remain awake and focused. By the time I finished, the book it self was at least half way done. Since leaving, I had little need for audio books.
I guess when I really think about it, it wasn't that I made the choice to stop reading the series. It was more that I wanted to read other books just as much. I can continue reading the Portland Storm series any time I want.
This may not be an answer to the topic, but there you have it.

ReplyDeleteMy <a href="https://lydiaschoch.com/wednesday-weekly-blogging-challenge-reasons-why-i-stopped-reading-a-series-i-loved/”>post</a>.
I know what it's like to read a series sporadically...there are just so many books out there and so little time! My post is here if you want to come by: http://jhthomas.blogspot.com/2020/04/wednesday-weekly-blogging-challenge_29.html
ReplyDeleteThat's a perfectly good reason. I've strayed from some series just because I had other books I wanted to read.
ReplyDeleteYou make a good point. Sometimes you just what to read something else. For me that usually a sign the series has become stagnant. Thanks for sharing. Here's mine. https://www.tenastetler.com/lsrs-wednesdays-blog-challenge-reason-why-i-stopped-reading-a-series-i-loved/

I've done the same with a series or author, you get too tunnel versioned in your reading if you don't read other writers.
ReplyDeleteI think that at some point, the author has done all she/he can with the characters, and it's time to move on. Think up new characters and new places.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely understandable!
ReplyDeleteThere are certain series I will only read on audio because that's what I listen to when I'm working out on the treadmill. When the weather gets warmer and I start walking outside, I don't listen to as many audio books.
ReplyDeleteIt's one of the troubles with long series - reading those means you're not trying other books. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing. It just an opportunity cost.
ReplyDeleteI can see that would make sense.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a great reason, to just take a break. Thanks for sharing!
