Rory

On the outside, my life seems perfect. I have my friends, family, and quirky small town to keep me

satisfied plus my secret writing career that’s done better than I ever dreamed. What’s not to love?

There’s just one thing missing. But I don’t know what it is.

At least until he comes back to town. The man I crushed on so hard in high school, I couldn’t talk in

full sentences around him.

He’s back, he’s ready to settle down, and he’s set his sights on me, the wallflower.

Every time I turn around, there he is. He wants to know about me. And no matter how hard I try to

ignore him...I can’t. He’s everything I wanted as a teenager.

And as an adult? I’m discovering that he’s the total package and is ready to sweep me off my feet.

Alex

Deciding to retire from my professional hockey career was easy. I miss my family, friends, and

hometown. I crave a slower lifestyle so I can finally settle down.

What isn’t easy? Figuring out how to coach teenaged boys in how to play hockey and win over the

woman I can’t stop thinking about.

I think about her constantly and am constantly finding ways to run into her ‘by accident’. I want to

know everything about her, but she’s hesitant and I have my work cut out for me to convince her to

step outside her comfort zone and date me.

But I’m up for the challenge. I’m ready to show her what being with me could be like and that she

doesn’t need to be scared.

With outside forces working against us, can we get it together for our best shot at a happily

ever after?

Release Blitz: You Had Me at Hockey

Can a spirited, down-to-earth influencer get an uptight hockey player out of his shell?

You Had Me at Hockey, an all-new sexy sports romance from USA Today bestselling author Kelly Jamieson is available now!

Josh
I am a warrior. That’s been my motto since I recovered from a near-death accident when I was younger. Now I enjoy my nice, settled life in Dallas playing pro hockey—a boring life is better than being dead. I’m not a party guy or an adventurer; I like my routine and peace and quiet. So being traded to New York is the worst possible change that could happen. And meeting unfiltered and fascinating Sara Carrington throws my life into even more chaos.

Sara
I’ve been considered weird my whole life, which is why I’m still a virgin, but I’ve turned it into a career with my YouTube videos. Who knew people would love watching me talk about my zits, taste-test meatless burgers, and try to learn TikTok dances! Now I’m launching a podcast. Getting hockey star Josh Heller as a guest will help gain listeners for sure. I expect a bearded jock with no teeth and nothing to say, but I get a hot as H- E-double-hockey-sticks grouch with a surprisingly dirty mind. My mission to make him laugh is successful, but I want to know why he’s so uptight underneath that panty-dropping smile. Maybe I can teach Josh to have some fun . . . and maybe he can teach me a thing or two along the way. . .

An older man was telling us all about how he’d once considered buying a hockey team, and I was doing my best to feign interest. I let my gaze wonder, so I could people watch, though, and I did a double-take when I caught sight of a woman speaking with a small group of people.

She was wearing a dark purple dress that fell to the floor and long sleeves that went to her wrists. The fabric dipped low on her chest, teasing at the cleavage underneath. The dress was tight at the waist, though, and showed off every curve she had. Her blonde hair had big curls in it, and the tips looked like they reached her shoulders. She appeared to be about three or four inches shorter than me, but I was willing to be everything I had that she had on some killer heels under that dress.

It wasn’t just the way she looked that caught me, though. It was the way she held herself. She was smiling as she spoke, and it was obvious that she had every man around her eating out of her hand. They laughed at whatever she was saying, and she appeared to be enjoying herself.

She was captivating.

“What do you think, Mr. Matlock? Do we have a chance at a repeat of the cup?”

I reluctantly peeled my eyes away from the woman to focus on the man in front of me. With a fake smile on my face, I shrugged.

“I think there’s always a chance. We have plenty of time to turn it around.”

When I glanced back at the woman, I saw that she had removed herself from the group she was with and was heading toward the silent auction table.

“Excuse me for a moment, will you?” I didn’t wait for anyone to reply before walking away.

The woman was looking at one of the lots that included a hot air balloon ride when I walked up. I cleared my throat and fought against shoving my hands into my pockets– a nervous habit of mine.

“A hot air balloon ride, huh?” I wanted to cringe at the lame words leaving my mouth, but I couldn’t stop them. “I’d probably faint before I left the ground.”

The woman looked up at me with a polite but disinterested smile on her face that told me she thought my line was cheesy, too. “Afraid of heights?

When her emerald green eyes met mine, recognition and realization dawned on me.

It was the woman from the game.

“Cheyenne.”

My Review

This was the first 425 Madison series book I read. I wanted to read this book because the main male character is a hockey player.
As a hockey fan, I was a little disappointed. There was less hockey action than I expected. As a romantic, I loved the relationship between Kam and Cheyenne.

Rating: 😀😀😀😀

Excerpt

I stuff my earbuds in and cue up a movie on my entertainment console. After the last flight, I deserve three hours of brain candy.
Just as I settle on an action flick, a body lands in my lap. At first, I think I’m being accosted—yet again. It’s not unusual for women to literally throw themselves at me. Typically I’m not on a plane, though, but considering my last flight I shouldn’t be surprised by anything right now. “What the—”
“I’m so sorry!” says the voice attached to the body in my lap. She scrambles to right herself but jerks back, gagging, her tidal wave of silky, dark hair slapping me in the face. It smells like mint and cucumber, which would be nice if it weren’t in my mouth.
She grabs my shirt with one hand and catches my earbuds, yanking them free. The other hand curls under the fabric wrapped tightly around her throat. She’s sprawled across my lap, legs hanging over the armrest, face level with mine. She’s totally blocking the aisle, making it impossible for anyone to get by and creating quite the spectacle. “My scarf is caught,” she rasps. “Oh my God. I’m choking myself. I’m so sorry. This is so embarrassing.” The more she struggles, the more the scarf tightens, which in turn causes her to flail.
I slide a supporting arm behind her. “Stay still for a sec.”
She freezes, still gripping my shirt, eyes wide with panic. I turn my head to the side and lean forward. Her lips connect with my cheek.
“Oh!” She tries to turn away, but she really is stuck, so her nose ends up in my ear and her lips are still pressed against my jaw.
“Just give me a few more seconds, and you’ll be free.” She exhales heavily against my jaw, warm breath making my skin prickle. I lift her carry-on and use my foot to pull the scarf free from the wheel.
She loosens the fabric around her throat, dragging in a long, deep breath. “Thank you. So much. Choking to death on an attractive man’s lap really isn’t the way I wanted to go.” She squeezes her eyes shut and pushes to a stand. “I’m so sorry.”
She keeps her gaze averted as she gathers up the scarf that never seems to end. It gives me time to check her out. Well, shit. This woman is hot. Like Pour a gallon of gasoline on me and light me on fire hot. She has long dark hair, a shade of brown so deep it’s nearly black. Her eyes are the color of coffee or chocolate—something with caffeine in it. Something that would amp me up. And her face . . . daaaaamn. High cheekbones, full lips, a dainty nose, arched brows, thick lashes.
I take in the rest of the package, which gives me pause because her outfit is just . . . out there. She’s wearing a full-on parka, hiding her figure, but based on her legs I’m thinking she’s probably slender. That’s a guess, though, with all the layers she has going on. And that scarf has to be a mile long with how many times she winds it around her neck, hence the near strangulation.
Her little wardrobe malfunction has resulted in a line of people waiting to board, so she rushes down the aisle, throwing another “So sorry” over her shoulder as she disappears into coach.
I’m almost disappointed. Almost, but not quite. I plug my earbuds back in and veg out to movies for the next three hours.

Review Tour: Cross Crease

Cross Crease
by Elizabeth Hartey

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE:   Contemporary Sports romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Heaven

I was fourteen the first time I laid eyes on the smoking hot goalie. Damon Wolfe was the most gorgeous boy I’d ever seen. All it took was one glance, one sentence and my heart was his.

But I was too young and he was too broken.

Seven years later, he’s the biggest off-the-ice-player in the NHL and I’m his virginal best friend—a problem I have the perfect solution to. But Wolfe refuses to help me out. He claims he doesn’t want to ruin our friendship.

Yet, somehow, his eyes say something different whenever he looks at me. The way I see it, it’s only one night. What’s the worst that can happen?

Wolfe

The first time I looked into those sparkling turquoise eyes, I was a goner. Heaven had a mouth full of braces and bruised knees but she was the most beautiful girl I’d ever seen. With one look, she sent all my inner demons running.

But she was just a kid and I was too damaged.

Seven years later, Heaven is now my best friend. My best friend with a single-minded mission—to get laid.

She wants me to take her virginity and teach her about sex. But she's so far out of the realm of anything my blackened heart deserves it's laughable.
So, how come I’m not laughing? How come my best friend is all I think about? More importantly, what am I going to do to protect her—from me?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt:
You know the Dolly Parton song, Here You Come Again? Sure you do. Everyone does. Once you hear it, the tune is on autorepeat in your head for a week. Think about the lyrics. Can you hear them? Well, that’s what it’s like every time I see D. Every. Damn. Time. I have to stop it. I have to stifle the racing beat in my heart and vagina whenever he’s in the same room as me.
I’m a strong, powerful woman in control of my own destiny. I’m a strong, powerful…I’m a professional. I can do this. I will do this. I can treat Damon Wolfe for a groin strain. I can check his range of motion, stretch his adductors, and do an ice massage on his inner thigh without the slightest flutter of my ovaries. I can.
I absolutely, positively will not succumb to his gorgeous face, sigh-worthy body, and mind stupefying smile. I can’t play this game with him anymore. I may be a strong woman, but my heart is a stupid, weak fool. I won’t let D crush it ever again. My brain is in control from now on.
She is an avid hockey fan, which means she has to compromise with her husband, one night of hockey for her, in exchange for one night of football for him.
My Review
I requested to read and review this book for three reasons.
1. I read and reviewed one book in this series.
2. The main male character is a hockey player.
3. The blurb
🔥 Once again a this book has a very high "heat level" for a contemporary romance novel. Actually I think that is is higher than the second book of the series. 🔥
While this is the third book in this series, it is only the second one by Elizabeth Hartey that I read. This time around I knew what to expect as far as the "heat level" was concerned. I knew what to expect when it came to hockey talk. With Wolfe's past I would have expected him to be a little bit more broody.
The first book in the series, Cross Stroke, is now on my "want to read" shelf.
Cover Reveal: A Favor for a Favor
A new stand-alone romance about trading favors, battling wills, and winning love.
A Favor for a Favor from New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting is coming January 28th, and we have the red-hot cover!
When I joined Seattle’s NHL expansion team, I thought it was the start of something great. But nothing ever goes the way you expect. Take my introduction to my new neighbor. She came rolling in on the hot mess express at midnight, making a racket while she tried to get into my team captain’s apartment. Did I mention that he’s married to a woman who definitely was not her?
Imagine my surprise when I end up with an injury that has me out of the game for weeks, and she’s the one to offer to help me. I should probably add that she’s not the captain’s mistress. She’s his sexy, pastel-haired younger sister.
So we come up with an arrangement: she rehabs me so that I can get back on the ice sooner, and she can add a professional athlete that isn’t her brother to her client list. Seems simple enough. As long as I can keep my hands to myself and my hormones in check.
Review: Ice Hot
The reason why I requested to review this book was because of the main male character is a professional hockey player. I am already reading two other series that involve hockey. I figured I would add a third series.
As a hopeless romantic, I love Christian and Serena's Story. However, as a hockey fan, I expected there to be more hockey action.
Short Review: Home Ice
Until now the main male characters in the series have been players. The is the coach's story. This was a welcomed surprise.
 In Home Ice, the reader sees a side of "Bergy" that the players don't get to see.
 In contrast to the previous books in the series, there was little hockey action. However, it was just as enjoyable as the other books.
Review: In the Zone
Usually fans are unaware of the demons that professional athletes deal with in their private lives. With Keith, his demon was the belief that he was to blame for his brother's death.
As a hockey fan, I can appreciate the moments Keith spends with the team.
Review: Comeback
I started reading the Portland Storm series with Light the Lamp. Niklas Ericsson is a recovering addict who worked through and with The Light the Lamp foundation.
-poignant
This was definitely one word that came to my mind while reading this book. It had a happy ending, but Nicky had to deal with a lot to get that happy ending.
Review: Holiday Hat Trick
In hockey, a hat trick is three goals (in one game) from the same player.
In the Portland Storm series, the term is used in life.
Mitch Quincey has "three goals" he would like to score during the Christmas break. However, none of the goals have anything to do with hockey.
As a novella, is book is a quick read or listen. This is always a plus with me.
Holiday Hat Trick is listed as 4.5 in the series about a fictional hockey team. The Storm are a team that I am a fan of since reading Light the Lamp.
Review: Double Major
I read one other book that the story was told by multiple charaters. I really enjoyed that book. Double Major is told by multiple charaters as well. In fact, it was told by the people. Those people are Portland Storm player and their wives or girlfriends.
I have loved reading about the lives of these hockey players from the previous five books. To have them all in the sixth, made it that more enjoyable. I could actually picture myself being that the double wedding that took place.
I am looking forward to Keith and Brianna's story.
Review: Smoke Signals
Razor is a former Portland Storm hockey player taken by the Tulsa Thunderbirds in the draft. While in Vegas, he meets Viktoriya. The two get married so that she can stay in the country.
Other than Razor and Viktoriya, there were two other characters that I found to be likable. First was Tallie that befriended "Tori" (as Razor called her). Than there was his mother that defended Tori against the owner's wife.
More than once, Tori either called or refered to Razor as a good man. While Razor denied being a good man, I agreed with Tori.
These are just a couple of reasons why I chose the rating of five out of five.
Review: Bury the Hatchet (Tulsa Thunderbirds 1)
Hunter is the Portland Storm's goal tender until he is taken by the Tulsa Thunderbirds in the expansion draft. After a few nasty remarks, he is forced into a marriage with Tallie.
I am a big fan of the Portland Storm series. So I decided to check out the Tulsa Thunderbirds.
Hunter had an kind of arrogance about him. However, at the same time, he has a protective side.
Review: Delay of Game
A pregnancy and a 10 game suspenstion are only small parts in the the lives of Cam Johnson and Sara Thomas.
The Portland Storm finally have a post-season to speak of when Cam "Johnny" Johnson receieves a 10-game suspension. That, of course, is the least of his problems. As for Sara, she has issues of her own.
This is book #5 in Catherine Gayle's Portland Storm Series.
What I like about Cam (besides being a hockey player) is that there seems to be more to him than meets the eye. He has taken blame (his or not) for the major health that occured in this story.
Sara, in small way, reminds me of Noelle (Light the Lamp). She is worried about taking care of someone other than herself.
Review: On the Fly
Before heading to the minor league team, Portland Storm player Brenden Campbell bumps into Rachel Shaw. Almost immediately, he is thinking about her.
Newly arrived from Texas, Rachel interviews for the job of the general manager's assistant. She is only looking to take care herself and her two children.
This is the second book in Catherine Gayle's Portland Storm Series. With On the Fly being the fourth book of the series I have read, I am enjoying each player's tale.
It was the main male characters being hockey players that first attracted me to start the series. So far, I have been engrossed in the lives of the Portland Storm players. As I expected, Soupy's story had the same affect as the others.
Review: Breakaway (by Catherine Gayle)
Eric Zellinger and Dana Campbell grew up togethet and both played college hockey. While Eric went on to play professional hockey, Dana got hurt in her freshman year. She asks Eric to help her heal. To do so, Dana pretends to be Eric's girlfriend around the (fictional) Portland Storm Hockey Team.
-----
 First thing I love about this book is all the hockey talk, especially the reference to a NHL hall of famer. The second is that I believed Dana's well-being was extremely important to Eric.
In hockey the phrase "light the lamp" means score a goal.
Liam Kellen is a hockey player for the Portland Storm. He is also a windower. While driving over a bridge Liam sees Noelle whose car has over-heated. While neither one knows it at first, Liam manages to get Noelle to safety. A driver crashes into Noelle's car which bursts into flames. This was slightly similar to how Liam lost his wife.
When truth about Noelle's living situation is revealed , Liam once again lends a helping hand and invites her to this place. Noelle agrees to stay with Liam. Is Noelle the cause of a turnaround in the game? In his life?
This is the first of Catherine Gayle's books I have read.  There were two things I really liked about it. The first was all the talk about hockey. The second was the broken hockey player and a woman that wants to help him as much as he helps her.
