Sunday Post #78: Halloween 2021

Happy Halloween to those who celebrate it.

๐ŸŽƒ ๐Ÿ‘ป ๐Ÿงน ๐Ÿช„ ๐Ÿฌ ๐Ÿฆ‡

I was thinking how Halloween is the one day of the year when adults can dress up as almost anything they would like to be in real life (i.e. super hero). With that said, here is my costume for this year.

I would have loved to have been able to play Baseball professionally.

 and into a waiting cab.

 I don’t think I breathe until the wheels of the plane leave the ground and we’re soaring

through the air, away from the biggest fuck up of my life. But as I look out of my window, I know

I’m only delaying the inevitable.

 He’ll come. He’ll find me. There’s no way he’ll keep this a secret. But I shake my head

and tell myself that I don’t care. It’s not just up to him. He’ll realize he’s made a mistake too.

We’ll talk to Tina, she’s the sister of my brother’s wife, a former lawyer turned restaurant owner.

She’ll walk us through the annulment process. It will happen quickly, and things will return to

normal.

 Yes, that’s exactly what will happen, but when I close my eyes all I can see are blue

eyes looking down at me while a man dressed as Elvis tells us to repeat after him. I have no

desire to remember my vows, but I remember his. I can practically hear him now. His voice

deep and sincere as he promised to love, honor and cherish until death do us part.

Don't forget to take some time to appreciate the journey as you go through your divorce or separation. If you're having one of the most challenging days or are experiencing conflict that you think you can't get through, then take a step back and look at it and say, “I am so grateful for this part of my journey, because I'm going to learn something from it.” I want you to look at your entire journey, be grateful for all of it, and know that you can learn something from every single thing you experience through this journey. You are going to come through stronger, and you are going to be even better. You're going to rebuild. You're going to flourish. You're going to thrive.

Don't forget to appreciate the moments. Look at things outside of the moment as you go through it, so that when you are at the point where you feel on top of the world when everything has finally recovered, you've rebuilt again, and you're happy, you will have those memories to know how you got to where you are. You will put your own crown back on as you fall in love with yourself and life again, and maybe, just maybe, you can even help one other person do the same by showing them it can be done.

I want to leave you, the reader—and now my friend—with what I said at the end of that speech in London in hopes that it touches you. No matter where you are in your divorce or separation journey, I want you to know that you are not alone, there is hope, and you can truly thrive in your wildest dreams on the other side. You might be only considering a divorce, you might be in the middle of a messy one, your divorce might be finalized—and you’re ready to move on, or anywhere in between. Wherever your journey currently is, the rest of your book is up to you. It’s up to you to take action, and when you use the tools that I’ve given you and implement your own Divorce Bucket List, I know you will be able to find joy and peace as I, and many others, have.

Book Blast: Lady and the Tribe

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions.Brenda Billings Ridgley will be awarding a $25 Amazon or B/N GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

Wives, mothers, and career women—we have all fallen victim to the silent epidemic that is, literally . . . letting ourselves go. Not the makeup free, yoga pants, weight gain routine. Little by little, we have allowed our preferences, interests, and individuality to slip away until we no longer recognize ourselves outside of our role as wives, mothers, or professionals. Who we are has become what we do.

In the process, our friendships have become the casualty of a “busy life” and lack consistency and depth. We have a gaping hole inside us that longs to be filled. How do we reclaim who we really are and fill this empty space that seemed to appear from nowhere? The answer lies in our Tribe. Our best friends see us more clearly than we see ourselves and are representations and extensions of our individuality. They are our companions, cheerleaders, and counselors—always in our corner. They are the branches of our tree of life that lift and support us, so we can flourish. Our Tribe is the family with whom we choose to live our life . . . with no strings attached.

Lady and the Tribe is a blueprint for building deep connections. As you read, you’ll be swept away on a journey of friendship as the author shares her own personal stories and those of other women. In the process, you’ll discover how to find, nurture, and deepen friendships and create a Tribe culture that is unique to you.

We can become whole again through the power of connection.

When three or more gather, we are Tribe.

The Tribe

Traditionally, a Tribe is a social division in society consisting of families or communities linked by social, economic, religious, or blood ties. Some Tribes have a common culture and dialect, and typically they have a recognized leader. A customary Tribe is a face-to-face community, relatively bound by kinship relations, reciprocal exchange, and strong ties to place.

The term Tribe should be utilized only with great respect and consideration of its origins. It is with the term’s heritage in mind that I aspire to create that culture with my closest friends. This social division, group, or pack are linked by common social patterns, interests, and sometimes, goals. As the group connects together over time, they establish the Tribe’s personality, lingo, patterns, and rituals.

Your Tribal space feels like home when you arrive. It is safe, encouraging and makes you feel relevant because you are truly seen. Your Tribe cares about your opinions and what you have to say. They are proud of your talents and strengths and are not threatened by your success. Your Tribe will promote rather than ignore or diminish your wins. Although these close friends can be a great influence for you to be better and do better, there is no contest; you do not feel competitive with one another. The experience of finding your Tribe can be life changing. It becomes a mirror reaffirming who you are and where you belong.

NBtM VBT: Black Flag Journals

Black Flag Journals: One Soldier's Experience in
America's Longest War
by Dennis Woods
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Memoir
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 BLURB:
The story of America’s longest war is complicated and difficult to convey, unless you were there.
Dennis Woods was there. By following his stories in Iraq and Afghanistan, we can sense the
enormity of his combat experiences. Originally written for his daughter, Black Flag Journals is
taken from the author’s nine battle book journals. It covers his time from the fall of the Twin
Towers through his last combat tour.
Black Flag Journals contains not just stories from the first war of the new century, but a day-by-
day record of events that other veterans may use to relate their own experiences. All who enjoy
real life stories, and followers of history will connect with this first person account of America’s
longest war.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt:
The flight we were on this morning was an ordinary, run-of-the-mill resupply operation. Its
purpose was to service Afghanistan’s numerous small camps and bases. What it carried,
though, was not ordinary or run-of-the-mill. What we were delivering was an unusual allotment
of artillery ammunition and GELON mounts. Part of my mission on this trip was about to be
completed. However, once in the air, I was given a new defensive challenge to solve.
TMST #11: How Do You Read?
Hi All. I know there was not many other posts between my TMST. I hope to change that soon.
In the meantime, for this week's question = Paper, electronic, audio... How do you read?
I don't really have a preference. Each one has it's benefits.
For example, I think that audio makes the characters seem real. It definitely feels that way with the Shades of Magic trilogy.
As for electronic, it is simply the ease and convenience of being able to read once you buy the book.
Of course, having the physical book won't go out of style.
Blog Tour: Danger on the Mountain
 Title: Danger on the Mountain (Marshall Brothers, #3)
Author: Carolyn LaRoche
Genre: Suspense
Release Date: September 4, 2021
Cover Designer: Booksmith Design
Amazon
Book Description:
She’s sold her soul to the devil for the last time…
When an unexpected inheritance comes her way, high-powered defense attorney, Layla
Evans, gives up everything she's known and seizes the opportunity to start over. The
mountain ranch is the perfect escape from a life she can no longer stand. In the solitude
of her mountain escape, she can wrestle her demons and never hurt anyone with her
job again.
She never counted on her past following her there.
Ben Marshall knows a thing or two about running away…
After a decorated military career ended in the worst way possible, Ben leaves his
Special Forces unit and seeks sanctuary high in the Blue Ridge Mountains. He needs
the solitude. It's enough, until a beautiful brunette, who has no business running a
ranch, literally falls into his life. When Layla’s past catches up to her, Ben's old instincts
kick in. His need to keep Layla safe becomes stronger than his desire to protect himself
from her.
Can he protect Layla without risking his battered heart or will love truly conquer all?
EXCERPT:
It pained him to hear the roughness of her voice. A solid reminder that he'd almost lost
her. The battle that had waged inside him since meeting her had amped back up to full
scale.
When the nurse was gone, Ben tried again to explain himself. "I was engaged once, you
know."
"Nope. I had no idea," Layla answered without looking up from her drink. Her apparent
indifference hit him right in the heart. "You haven't said much about yourself."
"Her name was Lauren. According to her, I'm not fit for a serious adult relationship."
"Just because it didn't work out with her you consider yourself unable to care about
anyone else?"
Man, she isn’t making this easy on me."It goes much deeper than that, Layla. I've seen
things, done things."
"We all have regrets, believe me." She sounded sad and a little wistful. Like she had
some serious secrets of her own.
"I was in the Air Force. Special forces. My job… well, things happened. Things I could
never get over. Lauren knew it, and now, after messing things up with her so badly, so
do I."
Layla set her cup down on the bedside table. "So, because things didn't work out with
one relationship, you left your home, your family, and a job I think you loved to come live
on a mountain, sentencing yourself to a lifetime of loneliness and self-pity?"
He exhaled slowly. "You don't know what it's like to live in my head. Besides, didn't you
basically do the same thing?"
"This isn't about me!"
He leaned forward, looking her in the eyes. "Are you saying you don't have any secrets
of your own? Secrets that sent you to the same isolated mountain as me? Secrets that
seem to want to see you suffer, maybe even die?"
